Got rear ended today...and it was a Hit and Run
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...&v=a65OsYh3PuM I got rear ended today. Sitting at a red waiting for it to change to green and I get smacked in the rear end. After realizing that we're blocking traffic, I wave the guy to follow me and pull over into the Walgreens parking lot. That's when he took off. I remembered that I had passed him a block earlier because I thought he was going to make a left turn, so I went back to my dash cam to see if I got his plates. It is a 1991-1996 Burgunday Toyota Camry (I think it was an LE), it has a rear spoiler and has IL license plates ending in 9195. I think the whole plate maybe AL09195 but i'll let you be the judge: The damage isn't to bad (i don't think). It seems like he just hit me from a stationary position and it doesn't seem like he was barreling down the road. The collision seems to have left an impression of possible the nuts holding his front license plate and some scuffing. The reverse sonar seems to be working properly so i'm hoping there's no real damage other than cosmetic. I'm going to stop by the police department tomorrow, but I know how these Hit-and-Runs usually end, since this is Chicago (and since i've been in a Hit-and-Run before). I believe in Karma, so somebody go exact some karma for me! |

That woulda been a great time to have rear mounted sub machine guns!!! Hope it works out. People like that just need to be flushed down the shitter...not an ounce of respect for other humans. People like that are at the top of the "Thats whats wrong with this world" list.

The plate is definitely A10 9195. The common IL scheme is a letter, then two numbers, a space, and four numbers. What a fucking asshole. I hope the cops nail his ass to the wall. Be sure to give your insurance company the report number so they can pursue it too.
Also, I know exactly where that is on Irving Park. Used to live right down the street.

Show the police your video. They have equipment that can easily get a more detailed license plate ID. They'll find and fine that a-hole nail him for 'leaving the scene' of an accident. Bastard...

Sorry about your misfortune.
I presume you turned this in to the police already right? Even with incomplete plate numbers, they can find that guy. Police also has digital image enhancers as well if you give them the video, they can even get the exact plate number. don't ask me how i know... |

I actually did give chase, until about a 1/2 block later when I saw a cop parked on the other side of the street. I was shoutin that I was rear-ended and that guy took off. But the cop said he didn't see it. In trying to convince the cop that there was a reddish car that JUST hit me and took off, I lost him.
I was also pretty behind since I had foolishly pulled over into the Walgreens parking lot. |

That exact same fucking thing happened to me when I got rear-ended in my 335i within the first month of my ownership and within the same week of getting my m-tech rear put on...

Mine is always on. 100 bucks worth of camera and power supply switching is a small price to pay for continuous coverage. If everyone had this, maybe there would be a little more responsibility in our society. Most upper end cars now have backup cameras now anyway. It seems like it would be easy enough to make it into a dash cam. I would love it if manufacturers started implementing 360 degree cam coverage, at least as an option. It wouldn't cost much and would save a lot of time and money with insurance companies and lawyers.
