LCI Tail lights not working
Update 12/12/13 - Unfortunately i could not get the 63 21 7 273 427/8 tail lights to work. I returned them and purchased the *282 blacklines. If this does not work - I give up fingers crossed
Hi, I have a 2010 135i DCT (sports package) Euro Spec. I had the pre LCI tail lights fitted on my car and decided that i wanted the better looking LCI Tail lights. However, after installing, i get a warming light on my dash and the lights do not work. My car has xenon's and i do not have adaptive headlights. According to BMW, my old Tail lights were: 63 21 7 285 641 63 21 7 285 642 and they told me that the LCI Tail lights i needed to purchase were: 63 21 7 273 427 63 21 7 273 428 Can someone please tell me why i am running into this issue?

I'm sorry, I don't know why I thought you were trying to install Blackline LCI's. IF that is truly what you want I would order the #282 kit from schmiedmann.com They ship via FedEx and you should have them in (~)five working days. At least thats how long it takes for the guys in the states to get theirs. http://www.schmiedmann.com/en/632122...er.aspx?ppp=10 I realize now, that you are just trying to install LCI's on a pre LCI car. What year and build date is your car? BMW does say that for cars before Sept/'09 you need this extra cable. It could be possible thats the problem. 61122219698 adaptor cable - ~28 euros See my post #51... (in our MEGA LCI debate/thread...) http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showt...=512006&page=3 Your new lights came with new bulbs/circuit board... you didn't reuse your old one did you? I don't see how that could make a difference, but I am just thinking out loud here. When you figure it out be sure to let us know what it was. Sorry I can't be of more help. Dackel

Your 1st post is currently really confusing. You mention the tails don't work, mention what headlights you have, then mention what headlights you need?
Assuming you are only talking tails, there's a large chunk of plastic attached to each tail light assembly with a small circuit board, it has the light bulbs screwed into it and the wire harness attaches to it. IIRC it's got 4 little tabs that hold it in place and the whole thing can swap from the old working tails to the new ones. In effect you are only replacing the exterior plastic and that's it. I *think* that's how I did mine. I can't completely remember now. Sorry if that's way off but hopefully it isn't and gives some ideas. Last edited by tracer bullet; 12-09-2013 at 08:42 PM.. |

No i didn't re use the old bulbs and circuit board. The shop couldn't understand how this is possible when there are LED's in the new lights. and they are blaming this for the issues. I am at the point where im just going to slap the old lights back in and order the blacklines. These are no longer available on available on schmiedmann.com? if i order it through the dealership, it will take 3weeks But i will keep you posted. Quote:
The shop refuses to swap out this plastic piece. How does this work with the LED's if this is swapped out?
