M3 issues
good day everyone one - I need some advice, help...
this morning when I got in the M3, I had an error code, when I check it, it states that there is something draining the battery while the car is off, but I don't have any electronics connected to the car, other than a radar detector - I reset the clock and went off on my way, I shut the car off and went shopping for about an hour or so, and when I got back in the car, the same error message come back and the clock was once again not reading correctly and had to be reset - it's telling me that if this is occurring multiple times, I need to take it to the dealership - any ideas, before I go in to see the dealer? all input is greatly appreciated, thank you, |

Looks like you have an 08 M3, battery tends to die out about this time. OR if you still have warranty, just bring it into a BMW dealer, they'll fix it. I had an 08 M3 a while ago and this same thing happened.

Sometimes the car won't cycle all the electronics fully off and go to sleep mode I think it is. My e90 did this periodically but never was really an issue to this extent. Probably the dealership will have to check it out. Battery also could be an issue and need replacing, didn't see what year your car was.

I have an '07 car and to date it's on the original battery. I've had CIC retrofitted but running as good as gold. I keep my battery in good condition by giving it a charge every month or so.

This happened to my car after I took it to an indy shop to update its software. They did reprogram the car and disconnected the battery for 10 minutes and connected it back. Never had this problem after.

Am betting it is a bad cell in your battery. I assume you lock the car when it is not in use? That helps shutdown some of the on-board systems (as opposed to leaving it unlocked). |
