Why are people so tide up with numbers and the compatition?

To be honest, I don't really get it? Why are there soo many post about people stressing over if the C63 and RS4 can do something faster or better then the E92 M3? All three manufactures offer different experiences, and the soul and feeling of each car represents that. How people decide which one they'll enjoy the most from reading spec sheets is beyond me? Anyways, me thinks its time for another beer. Peace

Agreed. If you like the M3, who cares about the others.

I think you've made a very very good point. I try not to be too picky with numbers because most people at the end of the day dont use the full performance of these cars anyway. Also, numbers cant be the only way to judge these cars, you NEED to test them yourselves. I know of one person who hates the RS4 and says the complete opposite of what other people say about it. It all comes down to what you feel about the car when YOU're in it

However, I am pleased to see how well the RS4 is actually doing against the M3 and C63 despite being the oldest. It just leaves us wondering what the next RS4 will be like but I'm sure we'll see the RS5 first *drool*

Comparisons are fun. The people who are honestly stressing about it, well, they may need to reexamine priorities.

Because when someone is considering blowing 60K+ on a car, one wants to make sure they get the best for their money. And "BEST" is a subjective term and thus all the bickering....

I think that a lot of the people who buy these cars are successful, motivated, and very competitive in their daily lives. They project those qualities onto their cars, and you wind up with the comparos.

1)Because we haven't driven the M3 yet, so how could we make decisions based on the visceral "driving experience" as you say?
2)What JEllis said.
3)Bragging rights.

But point taken, + or - 0.1 sec is a ridiculous way to make this decision.
However, I don't think anyone will, we're just talking about the competitors.

LOL Then that would mean every car make has those types of people...Because this sorta thing happens with every car no matter the brand.

It may be an M but its still a Bmw 3 series and at 60-70K not close at all to umm...."PLAYER" status

I mean what else is there to do for those of us in the states, who have been waiting, talking, looking and researching, some for a good 2 yrs for a car thats still at a minimum 6 months away? :sad0147:

Indeed on point #1. People the whole world round simply LOVE cars. I do think the discussions, debates, etc. are a bit better on some boards than others though.

BMW has made a clear move with the E9X 3 series. They did this along with the introduction of the 1 series. The 3 is clearly no longer the entry level BMW! That is now the 1er. Sure a 3 series certainly does not make one a player but it does offer more "status" these days. And I guess you can interpret "status" as simply "I paid more for the car"

The M3 is not "player" status?
A $60-70k car is not "player" status?

75% of the US population doesn't even earn that much money in an entire year! (Before tax!)

I guess... if you define 'player' to be those who drive $150k ferraris, etc...

I hope the wink means ur joking...

some of these comments scare me
