BMW Individual Interior Question

I've noticed on a lot of the Individual ordered cars the interior sports a contrasting stitch that is often the same color as the exterior. Is this standard for all BMW Individual orders? My current lease is SO with white interior, and the stitching is a matching SO. . . I didn't order it though I picked it up from the showroom so I'm not sure how the whole process goes.

Can someone with more direct Individual order experience perhaps pipe in here?

My goal would be to get an SO M3 with a medium to dark brown interior. . . I think it would REALLY pop if the stitching was orange as well.

Contrast stitching is not standard with Individual orders but is an available option to add.

Can you add contrasting stitching to standard interior color or only individual? For instance if I chose Sakhir Orange exterior and went with standard black interior can I add contrasting orange stitching?

Yes......for approximately $4395 like was stated above. I checked on this too as I would like to have the black extended interior with Yas Marina Blue stitching. They didn't have an exact figure for me at my dealership, but they said to expect the same pricing as the E9X variant Ms.

Damn, that is a lot of money just for a different color thread...yes I get the logistic behind it all and understand why they charge so much but it is a rather high premium.

I too was giving thought to get contrasting stitching in Sakhir Orange on the M3 but for that price I can skip it. I'd pay up to $2,000 for it but anything more is really a stretch.

Yea I was thinking $2000 or something like that for a different color thread. Damn. Anyway, if you add full custom color leather to the interior, how much more is that ? Since 4500 for the stitching, is it another full 5k for the leather? Meaning, with exterior color, we are talking 15k if you full individual the car? Christ.

I forget the exact amount but I think Porsche charges under $2k for this. I will say one of the best interior mods (as long as it isn't a light color stitch like yellow or grey as jeans and dirt kill it). Seriously though BMW is pricing this way outside the reality of what it's worth.

Pretty much...that is if you don't also add an individual trim as well!

people who buy porsches are used to getting nickel and dimed with options. We like packages, well not certain ones lol, that give you some cost reduction but still individualize your car

That's why I bought my 911 used! 3 years old, $115k sticker (tons of custom painted stuff- the guy paid like $700 just to have the air vents painted body color). I paid $68k, CPO w 12,000 miles. The more I see the M4 the more I think it's my next car!

I was told by my salesperson that individual options won't be offered on this MY's car.
I would love to get an individual paint color. Not so much in love in paying the extra 5k for it though.

I think he is incorrect. They have been pushing the individual aspect of the new Ms for some time now. I asked about it and didn't get any negative feedback, so I am fairly sure you will be able to order what you want.

BMW generally does not allow Individual orders for early production (I've heard the same thing from a high volume BMW salesperson.) Since '15 model year production is starting in ~April I am hoping they don't make people wait all the way till the '16 model year.

That's untrue.. BMW has teased a few times about individual exterior and interior choices.. Check there Facebook page you will see about 5 pics with azurite black exterior and Amaro brown interior. They will most definitely be available why would they market those specific colors! Canada has them available off the bat I believe.. Full pricing and guides aren't even out yet so we won't know till they are and most SA's are clueless..

Nobody said they won't be available period, just not at launch/ for a while. The exterior colors you mention are part of an extended palette that will be available at some point but are not considered "full" Individual and also come at a lower cost (~$2k v $5k for a custom Individual color.) For examples, look at the configurator on bmwusa.com for the M5/M6 and others.

Since the Canadian information lists some Priority 1 colors starting production by 7/14, that may be an indication of when things start to loosen up on order flexibility. Obviously they want to get the basic production humming before they make thing more difficult for themselves.

I mentioned this in your other thread, but I was quoted $21,650 by BMW for contrasting leather inserts (headrests, door panels, etc.). As others in here have mentioned, stitching alone is $4,600 retail.
