Night Vision??
Has anybody opted for the Night Vision with Pedestrian Detection on the F15? Mine is currently in production and I selected it for the "gadget" factor knowing that it doesn't offer the full range of features (headlamp hightlight, etc) in the US.
I'm just curious if there are any pictures of F15's with the camera in the grill. I'm hoping it doesn't look too awkward, particularly on the titanium grill. My XDrive50i is due in a week or so and the anticipation is killing me! |

Yes. I did. A few others, too. I had it on my 550 but didn't choose it on my M5 since I swapped allocations to a pre-built car. I usually tick every box when I order cars, but came to the realization that it was indispensable some nights here in SF where it is perpetually foggy. I'm glad I ordered it again with the X5.
Your grille won't be titanium on the 50 with NV. It'll have darker, chrome-faced slats with chrome surround. Here is a picture: Based on the front lower air dam configuration, that is a 50i. The camera practically blends in which is a good thing to me.

The M50d I drove had Standard titanium grill, nv should not change grill type imo. In Europe titanium grill Comes With Msport package. There Are examples of BMW fitting wrong grills on Cars, I Would not be surprised if This Was the case here, or Then its because of Some decorative package.
And Yes I ordered it too, I Think it helps on night drives in deer areas, Which I do. |

My 550 had a chrome-slatted grille similar to the above. Cars without NV had the standard titanium grille. New 550 deliveries are also the same way.
It's just the way it is. It's a bit silly, in the same vein as BMW not offering the Performance Grilles for cars with NV.

I have a lot of deer in my neighborhood so it seemed like a good idea but now I'm mad that a change in grill finish was never disclosed. |

The new and updated night vision is a lot more useful with the addition "dynamic light spot" and warning in HUD. It should not change your grille.

Every X5 I've seen with NV though has had a different grille than standard. Here are some pics I found of Luxury and xLine cars. For the US, they all appear to share the same grille (titanium one) when not equipped with NV. You can see the difference. With NV: Without NV, the titanium grille: Luxury Line: xLine: I hope I'm wrong.
