'08 Original Owners Roll Call - who has owned their car the longest?

Merlin's thread asking how long everyone's planning to keep their car got me thinking: how many of the members here bought their M3 brand new from BMW in the first year of production, and have held on to it until now?

Please share your date of delivery, mileage, and future plans for the car.

(I wrote '08 in the title, any original Euro owners still enjoying their '07?)

I got my 2008 E90 M3 on Jan 30th 2013. I didn't find the car so much as the car found me. It had only 22k miles, and 100% of the right colors (in and out), specs, and features that I wanted. Got the OK from the War Dept and bought it after about a 5 min test drive together. I woulda been crazy NOT to buy it!

I'm not sure about long term plans. My extended warranty is up this August, and it already paid for some crazy-a$$ $3k+ evaporator or something for the AC. I can AFFORD this car, don't get me wrong. I'm not stretched beyond my means. That stated, if I had some $10k repair or something after warranty, I don't rightly know what I would do. Leave it in the garage and ride my bike? Park in on the lawn? (this IS Texas). Pay for it and then resent the car?

So I'm enjoying the car until the warranty runs out, and then it's either sell it, or keep it with the risk. I will NOT be buying a 3rd party warranty. I can't get USAA (no military... sorry), and I don't trust a warranty company to fix anything anyway. They'll show me the fine print and say "its your problem not ours".

So short answer: I dunno.

Edit: it has 29k miles now...

Nice that you got your evaporator taken care of under warranty. I did as well, but under factory warranty. I have an EasyCare TotalCare extended warranty until 85k miles, and all I've used it for so far was the wheel and tire coverage (they just bought me a new PSS rear after I got a nail in one). So, so far, so good!

And just to be clear, I'm not looking for all 2008 owners, just the ones that bought their car new, from BMW, and still have it today. My thread title wasn't clear enough - corrected. Thanks.

Seems many early adopter has moved on with other cars or other things. Sometimes I really question myself how could I still be on this forum as a daily ritual after 6 years.

I haven't posted for quite sometimes, but i thought i would share mine.

SSII E92 M3

Production date: 4/4/2008

Delivery date: End of May 2008

Mileage: Garage queen, just hit 37000 last weekend

Future for the car: Just had new PSS rear rubbers and corner balance done past weekend. But mainly, still under the new M4 greatness depression mode. Haven't decide whether to keep the car forever. If anything, maybe BBK (When OEM brake goes)/SC and rod bearing change as part of the future maintenance.

Dave, how many do you have on your car and how much did you pay for your EasyCare TotalCare extended warranty?

Plus, you've brought guys into this thread that normally doesn't post and so far, almost all have a garage queen.

I bought my 2008 car when it was 4 months old...not quite new but what the hell.
Now at 48k miles and the total opposite of a garage queen - I drive it all weathers and the last time I washed it was around Sept last year! Only warranty item replaced was the battery.
I guess we have a different BMW warranty system, I can renew mine every year for ever, though after 100,000 miles its drivetrain only.

Date of delivery, August 7, 2008, currently at ~25k miles. Future plans, continue to beat the hell out of it on the track. She likes it rough.

Still on blocks, got to the dealer on August 1, 2008, I was still in Iraq. Wife took the picture.

Re-deployed to Germany on August 6, 2008 and the next day went to the dealership, pretty good timing, yes?

Goose eggs on the odometer

Play in the foreground, work in the background.

On the way to the Nurburgring, August 14, 2008, stopped by Baumholder Germany when the 1st Armor Division was still there.

August 17, 10 days after delivery, she was on the Ring, you can call this the hard break-in method.

After that weekend, the M3 earned the right to wear the sticker

September 6, 2008, a few weeks after the last visit, the M3 is back at the Ring taking names. And this process will continue until I PCS'd back to the United States in April 2009.

We all ordered AW M3s downrange.

October 13, 2008, where else would the M3 be?

Track walk, no we didn't walk all 13 miles.

The camber on the track is amazing, something you don't realize while driving. This is a bad example...

April 5, 2008, last trip with the M3 to the Ring.

July 12, 2009, AutoX at Fort Rucker, AL

Moved to Fort Bragg, NC where the car resides today in 2010

Would have been nice to have on the Ring. PFC BBK.

ZCP wheels + LCI lights + Eibach Springs = updated look

First time at a HPDE event and first time at VIR on February 25, 2012, signed off Solo and lapped at 2:15 on street tires.

How it sits today.

I have a ton of VIR pictures floating around the forum

So, as you can already imagine, I'm keeping this one. There's an emotional attachment.

I've got what I believe to be the first E92 with M-DCT delivered to the West Coast of the US. Build date 03/2008, delivery around mid May 2008 (can't locate my teaser post that night with nothing but a picuture of the key fob...), about 66k miles with no major problems to date. No plans to part with the car but I am looking around at the next gen of BMW and many other brands.

Thanks guys, thought some of you would like seeing a short photo journal of the M3. I encourage other old timers to do the same here!

The story with the powercoated 220 goes like this, I curbed one of my wheels leaving post one day and one of my pilots run a little powder coating business on the side, so he powder coated my wheels for $400 bucks. Looked great, I got them mounted, not even 2 days later, I curbed the same wheel on the same curb!!!! Talk about FAIL, so I took a permanent marker and colored the rashed area. True story. But yeah, looks great, you should do it.

Thanks, it's been an honor and privilege to serve, I'll never forget the time spent in combat, truly enjoyed it. I went with the AW because it was the color on the car in the catalog. Just like when I went with Montego Blue with the 335i before the M3. LOL

Delivered 03/20/2008
63,000 miles
It has been sitting in my garage for the past two months waiting for snowmaggedon to end. I took it for a 20 minute pothole-dodging ride this morning and I can't wait for spring!

I might replace it with a F80 in a year or two.

Love to hear it, Mike. I look forward to the day I get to call you for your Stage II tune and some custom coding...

I sure wish my car could be considered a "business expense"!

Looks like only midlifecrisis has got you beat on earliest delivery so far.

I can only imagine there's only a handful of original owners left. It's great to see though. I'm not the original unfortunately (I'm second), but the OP took such good care of her.
