How long did you have to wait ONCE production had begun?
I am just starting the process and just got the VIN, how much longer of a wait am I looking at here until delivery?

Mine went into production 2/11 and completed 2/18. Based on that, you should probably get it in less than 2 weeks.

Ordered February 8th with production number in hand that day. Originally scheduled for week 13 (late march), but production started today and to finish March 3.

6 Weeks to the EU is really good. I'm in Canada and my car finished production on January 24th and I still don't have it!!!
It's pathetic really. I have no idea what takes them so long to get these cars where they are going. Salesman said it was on a train 4 weeks ago. |

Mine just got bumped up today. It was scheduled to begin production March 10 but went into production today with a March 6 estimated completion date. I am hoping for a fast delivery as I just sold our Cayenne and it is going tomorrow.

I've heard many times that production takes 10 days. I wonder if that is really accurate as this Monday, February 24th I was able to make a configuration change and yet the BMWUSA phone production status update says my car is in production with a completion date of March 3. So maybe the car went into production Monday the 24th and my config change just got in under the wire, so that gives a 7 day, at longest, build time. Maybe the 10 days include other stuff as well after it rolls off line?? From what I have seen on videos they roll off the line and pretty much queue up for rail or truck transport.

Sweet. We ordered on Saturday. It was supposed to be built sometime the week of March 10th. It went into production today. Less than a week from ordering to production. Just called and the automated message said the estimated production finish date is March 4th.

Very jealous at the level of service you get in the US versus Canada! I know transportation will take a little longer but I'm already over a month since end of production and it's not at the dealer!

You should have it very quickly. It doesn't spend much time (if at all) waiting to be loaded on transport since it's a domestic delivery. It'll be grouped with others heading in the same direction. It's around 730 miles from factory to Miami, so it may be transported by rail (NS or CSX, possibly changing to FEC) and either unloaded at Jacksonville or down in Miami. Regardless, it'll be trucked the remainder of the way. The truck might make stops at other dealers in the area but not at always. Who did you buy from? Braman? Vista? I grew up down there.
It's amusing to me to say 'domestic delivery' - since in Europe, they also avoid the wait. European export cars will queue up for a week or longer waiting for a space on a boat. Same here in the US for cars heading overseas. The last time I visited the SC factory, the tour guide pointed out the various rows of cars awaiting transport. The export queue was significantly larger.

My experience is that according to the web site my truck spent 1 week in "production begins," skipped "production ends," and arrived at the dealership here in Chicagoland on the 4th day of "finishing touches." It didn't show up as "At your BMW dealership" until a day after it actually was delivered.

It's not just canada that BMW discriminate against. I ordered my 3D M Sport 2nd week in January it doesn't go into production until the end of THIS MONTH and I won't see it until Easter weekend I.E. 18th April. It's an outrage!
