Former VW/Audi Owner…First Time BMW and ///M Owner >>>

I never really introduced myself here…I'm Wendell...long time lurker, somewhat new member. Came from the VW and Audi crowd…but always wanted a BMW and a ///M.

My first love has always been the E46 M3, but at the age of 19, I could never afford it. So I bought what I felt was the best bang for my buck, a new 2000 VW Golf 1.8T 5MT. I loved, wait…was obsessed with that car. Fun to mod, easy to work on, and was pretty damn fast for a little car. I've accomplished so much with that car, multiple magazine features (Eurotuner, European Car, etc), SEMA Car, sponsors etc. No regrets at all. Here it was in it's different stages:

After I've had my fun with that car…I decided to part it out and move on. Unfortunately, I totaled that car in a terrible crash I'm lucky to have had survived. With no running car, it was time to get something new. I decided on a new 2008 Audi A4 2.0T Quattro 6MT. I got hooked up with this car by a good friend and had a lot of friends with and worked on Audi's so it was a no brainer…plus I wanted a sedan. I had many plans for this car, but modding on a strict budget was my main concern. I was 27, newly married and had other priorities. So I modded this conservatively and with as little money as possible. It was pretty much low and slow. lol Here it was in it's different stages:

So funny story how I acquired my current car…It was a few days after Christmas 2012. Decided to take my wife out on a lunch date. Before we left, I did a quick dealer search for local E90 Ms. There was one I really wanted to check out that day. We ate, had a few drinks and decided to go bowling. Played a few games, had a couple more drinks and I brought it up to her. I said, "Baby, they have a M3 sedan at the dealer right now…can we go check it out?" lol She said okay, so off we went…lucky me! We got to Fremont BMW and there she was, my dream car…2010 E90 M3 6MT Space Gray/Fox Red. Did a test drive and immediately fell in love. After 4 hours total at the dealer, we made a deal. I traded in my Audi on the spot, they gave me what I wanted for it and I paid not a penny more for the M3 than I wanted. Win win! I was able to come back to the dealer and get some mods off of my Audi as well including the wheels…can't get much better than that!

Anyways, I couldn't be more than happy to join the BMW crowd and finally acquire my dream car, a M3. After over 12 years of dreaming of owning a M3, I finally got one. I believe everything happens for a reason and it was the right time for me to own this car being settled and more financially secure. I'm having more fun than any of my cars modding and driving this thing! I'm constantly smiling and can't stop staring at it. I have another car as a daily driver, but can't help myself and drive this as much as I can! Haha I've made countless friends with the VW/Audi crowd, some of which are my best friends till this day for over 10 years. I hope to do the same with some of you. I'm already off to a good start meeting some of you in person and becoming friends. I don't plan to ever sell this car so I'll be around here for awhile. Hope you enjoyed my little introduction…cheers!

Here's the day I traded in my Audi and got my M3:

The E90 looks sharp in SG, and combos great with Fox Red. Every time I see a SG/FR, I feel a pang of buyer's remorse for getting AW.

Welcome to the crowd!

I too came from VW/Audi and also had a 2000 Golf 4dr 1.8T 5MT...... Coincidentally I now have an E90 M3 with LM's and an Akrapovic Evolution!

I think our taste must be similar, no?

Thanks man! Honestly, I would've been happy with either AW/FR or SG/FR…best combos IMO.

Hey welcome to the dark side. I've seen your mk4 on vortex before.

I too came from vw, I should say still have them but it's a little more grown up around here compare to that. Enjoy in good health.

Coincidently I too have a 1.8t on LMs and a 4 door e90 with LMs

Thanks dude! I love it…it was the one thing I really wanted to splurge on for my car. Great sound and power gains. With my current setup, it's loud when it needs to be and doesn't drone at all.
