Phone won't pair - 2008 128i Proffessional Radio

I just got a used 2008 128i with the proffessional radio. There are buttons on the steering wheel for volume, a head, and a phone. I'm guessing my car has bluetooth.

I tried to pair it by holding down but nothing happens.

Menu options on the radio doesn't show a phone setup.

How do I get my bluetooth to work? (do i need to plug in a bluetooth module, or some menu setting/configuration).

Thank You,
Jerry

Why would BMW put a phone button, and a guys head if it has not bluetooth capability?

Is there a module I can get?

If you do have bluetooth, you will hit menu on the right, and then select phone, and if there is nothing paired to the vehicle, it should say "pair".

You also need to verify that your phone has Bluetooth visability enabled, otherwise it won't be recognized by the car. You should also be able to see your car under listed bluetooth devices on your phone to know if there is bluetooth enabled or not.

Assuming you have the module in the trunk:
U can retrofit one for < $50 parts from dealership and about 30 mins of your time. Search MULF bluetooth retrofit for DIY.

Billup, Thanks but I had my phone searching for the signal. When I push the menu button there is no phone icon.

dknl, Thanks I'll look up MULF bluetooth retrofit.
