I don't like these Weathertech mats (pictures)
I have two problems with these mats:
1) they don't fit right. Probably due to variability in where BMW places the floor hooks. With my driver's mat in the hooks, there is a half inch gap at the back that doesn't look very good. 2) they show dirt like crazy.

Question: Did you install the hooks that come with the WeatherTech mats? If so, even with that they don't fit right? Mine fits perfect. No gaps.
As far as the dirt goes, it's black. It's going to show EVERYTHING. At least with this, you can just rinse it off. Compare that to black carpet. Which one would you rather have? The point of these mats are ease of cleaning and not having any permanent stains, which it achieves. Z. |

The dealer threw in mats in my deal. I was given two choices; BMW all weather mats and all weather liners. I choose the liners because it has thinner profile than the rubber mats.
The lines do look similar to the weathertech, but the stamped floor pattern isn't the same. Also the BMW liners has the BMW logo and without the hook. You might want to look at these liners instead of weathertech. I think it is better than the BMW allweather mats as well. Personal opinion of course. |

I put BMW mats in the front and got Weathertech for 2nd and 3rd row.
But a bit of an easier decision in the UK as Weathertech front mats are only made for left hand drive cars! Like how the 2nd row mats are all one piece and cover the whole carpet. |

This past weekend I cleaned the BMW mats on the X5 as well as a set of Weathertech mats that I have in my Audi. Both are back so show dirt really badly - especially salt. The BMW mats are a lot easier to clean because they don't have deep grooves like the WeatherTech mates do. Just spray with a hose and wipe down and they were good to go, whereas the Weathertech mats took a lot of effort to get the dirt out of the grooves.

Maybe Weather Tech made a mistake in the dimension for the front floor mats? Because the front part is touching the gas pedal which is correct, but it's too short in the back of the mat. I got the same mats at home for my X5 35d, but didn't put them in yet. I will let you know if I got the same problem.

I have Weather Tech in the front and I hate them. They warp when it's cold and they slide all over. They are the worst winter mats I have ever owned.

My Idea
I got a set of BMW all weather (looks like weathertech, but says Xdrive) they use velcro.. not a hook.. and..I use towels on them, (stop laughing) the towels absorb the water/salt in NE winters.. and weekly I wash them separately and replace.. much easier than hiking the mats out/in -neg temps. once the snow/salt/ice is gone I remove the towels.
