RFT On New F15

For those that ordered 20" rims and got RFT's , what brand tire did you get. Not too fond of Dunlop.

That said, I have a late April build. Will post final specs.

I asked the same question to BMW UK.
Cut/Paste email reply.....

Thank you for your further email dated February 12, 2014.

At the time of manufacture BMW will use the best suited tyres that are available form any of the top five tyre brands. As you can appreciate, the brands tyre stock will fluctuate throughout the year resulting in BMW vehicles using a verity of different tyre manufacturers.

I can confirm that BMW recommend any of the following brands with regards to Run-flat tyres.

Goodyear
Pirelli
Michelin
Bridgestone
Continental

Yours sincerely

Don't know. In terms of grip, noise, wear?

The Conti's I have on my E70 lasted ~17k miles. I still have the rear set on from new and Euromaster said they have 5mm left on 'em. So I think that's pretty good.

NB current car is 3D SE.

Currently on my original Bridgestone RFT on my E70 with 16,400 miles.. The treads are still looking good too..

Only complaint is that it is noisy as hell...

My X5 35d came with the Dunlop tires and I'm not crazy about it. My friend X5 came with the Pirelli tires.

I'm thinking that if you get non-RFT, you probably can get several different manufacturers, but there are only a couple of RFT's that BMW puts on.

I guess it's a wait and see process. I wrote BMW an e-mail and the response I got was similar to the one Baunton got:

Thank you for writing to BMW of North America, LLC. We appreciate your interest in ordering a new BMW!

Tire brand is not an item that can be specified when ordering a vehicle from the factory. Should you require additional information or assistance, we suggest contacting the sales team at your authorized BMW center. They have the expertise to provide you with dedicated support and are eager to share their knowledge and enthusiasm. Should you need to access a list of our authorized BMW centers, please visit our website at: www.bmwusa.com and select “Dealer Locator.”

Mine came with Conti's but I think I'll go with Michelins when the time comes to replace these.

Did you get the 20" RFT option or were these non-RFT?

I thought that BMW only used Bridgestone and Dunlop as their RFT tires.

I must have received some bad information. I was told only Bridgestone and Dunlop's are used for RFT in 20" on X5 Sport!
