Rumor: BMW M4 Convertible Will Be Unveiled on 4.4.14

Quote:
BMW has been trying really hard to keep the M4 Convertible release date really hush-hush, keeping any sort of hint or information related to its unveiling well hidden from us. However, our source close to the company just told us that the new car will have a special unveiling date: 4.4.14.

Apart from being the date with the most 4s in it of this century, it’s also the day when we’ll be seeing the second Captain America movie in theaters worldwide. Could it be a coincidence? It could be. But maybe the Germans see the new model as their own superhero for the US market.

All jokes aside, the unveiling of the new M model will happen online at first and in the flesh at the New York Auto Show, just 2 weeks later, confirming all the rumors that have been going around lately. Furthermore, we’ll get to drive the car towards the end of the year.

As for the specs, expect the exact same numbers as on the Coupe, with a couple of extra kilos onboard due to the highly complex roof folding mechanism. 431 HP and 550 Nm (406 lb-ft) of torque will probably be enough to turn this car into a 4.5 second sprinter to 62 mph (100 km/h) with the manual gearbox and 0.2 seconds faster with the DCT.

4.4.14 would have been the perfect date to launch the M4 Coupe and have ordering open up shortly after for US instead of this hush hush waiting game.

You'll probably change your order again on 4/5.

Hopefully it'll have SO interior which as it stands is the only colour not yet seen on a show car.

SO is also the only exterior color not yet seen on a show car (I think - maybe no MW show car yet either).

Perhaps this is why they have not shown an F80/F82 with this color - they may have saved it for the F83. Although I somewhat doubt they'd go SO/SO for a show car, there are multiple show cars of each body type so they could have some F83 with SO interior and some with SO exterior. Of course that's all just speculation on my part.

I hope they do have multiple show cars in different colours both exterior and interior... I am bored of YMB/SS and AY / Black!! Would be great to see the other colours before my order gets locked in and I cannot make any further changes.
