Took Delivery - Imperial Blue, Venetian Beige

Hi Everyone,

Joined the F15 X5 club when I traded my wife's Audi Q5 for a X5 xDrive35d:

- Imperial Blue
- Venetian Beige Dakota
- X-Line
- Premium
- 20 " 451 with Pirelli RFT
- HK sound (Q5 had Bang and Olufsen)
- Rear camera

Thoughts so far: great car, love the modern lines, and the 20" with the side extensions just brings it all together. the X-Line grille and matte silver are gorgeous, and my daughter loves the ambient lighting. The oil-burner has great torque, and so far showing 30mpg in typical duty (Q5 had avg 20mpg).

Getting the weathertechs soon, but no other mods planned. Looking forward to the discussions.

Thanks
R

I am waiting for my X3 lease to end so I can get one of these.

I have the Audi Q5 as an option to look at. What are your thoughts, coming from a Q? I had the X5 before, and went down to the X3 to save some money, but I sure do miss the extras you can get in the X5 and it looks like they have made some nice improvements.

How are the 20s? Stiffer ride? I had big rims on my X5 and it was a bumpy, stiff ride.

Is your 30MPG based on mostly highway driving?

Nice choice!

Be careful with the Passat TDI. I bought a 2012 SEL TDI for one of my salespeople and the turbo took a dump at 51k miles (just before the 60k powertrain warranty ended). It appears they have some issues with turbos and dpf/cat system. I am buying an extended warranty and selling when that gets close to the end.

The X5 is so much roomier. While the Q is not a bad vehicle, it is getting past its prime, and needs a major update to compete. There is a diesel option now, but everything is the same as I had it since 12/2011 when I picked it up. I used to say Audi interiors were a step above, now its the other way around.

As far as the 20's go, they do ride stiffer which I do prefer. I have also noticed a lot more body roll compared with the Q, but for the size of the vehicle, it's understandable. I'm not a fan of RFT, still feeling them out.

The 30mpg was on a round trip of 20miles, on suburban roads aside a tollway. Some stoplights, but I got a few greens.

I have seen those issues, but not too worried about it. I got a warranty forever deal with the car, covering the entire drivetrain.

Very nice. What is one your back wall? It's like a taxidermy Santa or something.

Comparing Q5 interior and engine noise to X3, I'd take Q5. X3s advantage is more space. New Q5 coming out fairly soon I think. Rumor has it that the new Q7 will be smaller then the current one, hence more in competition with the X5. Right now if you can go with F15, I'd go for it.

LOL, thats a school project for the bulletin board. It was a shame to toss the work into the garbage, so it decorates the wall instead.
