Predicted responses to first press reviews?
Let's assume that BMW actually knows something about building a car (crazy talk, I know....) and, as a result, the reviews released in a few hours are positive.
They will talk about how quick the car is, how it handles, its weight savings, etc, etc, etc. They will recommend the car and generally sing its praises to the heavens. Somewhere in those reviews, though, there will be some minor "nits" and "buts...." Partly this may just be because journalists can't look too much like fanboys (so will always need something to say to present the other side...) and partly because (gasp) it may be that (shock/horror) the car is not perfect on account of no car is perfect. E9x has its drawbacks (city driving, low revs, etc) and there will probably be some minor issues with the new car. Won't sound as good as E9x. Could be a bit of turbo lag when you stomp on the gas at 1,000 rpm and leave it in 4th, etc. But these will be small pieces of the larger, sing it to the heavens reviews. So the question: assuming the foregoing is just about right, how bad will the trolling be later? Can we predict the number of posts where the anti-F80 bandwagon will pick on any imperfection and claim that the car is the worst thing in the history of automobiling? (recognizing, of course, that none of them will have driven it and most won't have even seen one....) And the follow-up: how much will this forum be able to resist feeding the trolls? ...just curious about how the folks on this forum view one another. |

honestly this is an internet forum so I expect that we're going to have the usual "told you so" and "omg junk all marketing" comments no matter what is said or published. Dont care, just excited to see the reviews

This plus the the idiot who starts shredding people for being so negative all the time, and trying to ruin the fun from waiting. I for one wait for my role with impatience.

Can I have my 1/4 mile performance already? Although, if these are European reviewers; the chance of that is near zilch.

I only care about the car not people's views who hasn't driven it. Let the arguing, chest pounding and bullying of skeptics and fan boys alike begin. It's part of it. In the end the only thing that matters is how I perceive the car when I drive it and criticism is a good source of information on what to pay some extra attention to when I finally get behind the wheel.

Im more curious to see what the reviews will do to wait times and dealer allocation numbers. My build isnt supposed to start until July (for Sept 25 Euro delivery). I really hope the reviews either positive/negative dont change the timeline for releasing the cars to people who have deposits down.

Basically, this is all just a diversion on an uncharacteristically slow day at work as I wait for the actual reviews (which, themselves, are just diversions until I get behind the wheel later this year......) Killin' time to make time. |

The people that are complaining are e90 lovers that cant deal with the fact the new F30 will dust their precious v8 :-) You know who you are, I am sure this hurts your butts as you read it lol... Honestly I can give a flying fart about magazine reviews, I need to drive it and then I will decide if I love the car or not.

I spoke to someone who is at the event for the company and they said that even before the drive some media were still lamenting NA engines and the name M4.
I had the same at the i8 launch on why its not an M? Why it does not have a V10? Questions that have been answered repeatedly before...That you now throw the key and tell them to go drive. Seriously for the M3 and M4 its been at least two years. It will be interesting if this bias provides influence.

Lets be honest for a moment here. I would say maybe 1 person in this forum who had their heart set on this car may actually cancel their order or look elsewhere after reading a bad review although I honestly don't expect any review to mention any deal breaker comments we have not known about already. Most of us already have our minds made up that we want and must have this car based on our history with BMW performance. I fully expect the reviews to be highly positive and sure there will be things to pick on and sure hope they continue to do so! I will be the first person to give my feedback to BMW and the content we provide in this forum will continue to be R&D gold to the brand. In about 3 years I want all the little quirks gone so I can trade in my F-80 for the perfected loaded 2018 model that I will ride into the sunset until the next generations materializes.

While you wait?
What are you doing to kill time while you wait for the embargo to lift?
