Help locating a car
Hey guys
I am using my brothers account to post since I am too lazy to create a new account I purchased a 2013 LRP E92 from a forum member last week and I hired a company GT-Motorsport to transport the car from North Carolina to Los Angeles. They picked up the car on Friday (3 days late) and were suppose put it on trailer and ship it to LA. I called around and found out that my car has been sitting at a storage facility in Charlotte NC and did not ship The shipping company promised me that the car is leaving tomorrow and should be in LA in about 10 days. I was wondering if there is like a locating device to track the vechicle like a built in Lo-jack I am livid with the company but Ian bitting my tongue because I don't want these assholes to do anything bad to the car Thank you everyone for your help |

The only way that comes to mind is using the built in antenna through BMW assist. Unless the car is lost or stolen they will not help locate it, and may not be able to tell you where it is unless you're the registered owner.

And unfortunately the BMW Assist app's "Locate my car" function only works when you're within 2 km of the car. I'm not sure if the BMW Assist reps will tell you where it is regardless of location, but you'd definitely need to be the Assist account owner for them to do anything for you, which you establish by calling Assist from the car and then going to a local dealership to sign some forms, I believe.

Unfortunately unless you arrange for a custom trailer pickup (single vehicle) most carriers are going to wait until they have a full trailer before they head cross-country. Assuming you haven't "burned any bridges" with the carrier, once it is in-transit, they should be able to give you periodic updates.

They should give you the drivers cell phone number. When I shipped my Supra from Florida to NY I called the driver on a daily basis. He called me back as well when he was close to dropping it off to arrange times. I would ask for the drivers number. They should comply

Had a similar experience when i shipped the car from Houston to NY. Shipping company didn't pick up my phone calls for 2 days. Trunk driver called me the day after and was set to arrive the next day. Everything worked out in the end.

UPDATE
I had no clue they were going to store the car at a random warehouse for 5-6 days with thousands of dollars in spare parts in the trunk. I would've never signed up for this shit I did some digging and called a few people and found out where they were storing the car in Cornellius NC. The company GT Motorsport (fucking scumbags) brokered the transport with a company called Steel Toy carriers( really nice guy) also in North Carolina. Looking through Instagram and Facebook I discovered that Steel toy carriers is next door to a detail shop called innovative speed shop. I called the detail shop and asked if He has seen a Orange BMW He said yes it was loaded on a truck today and heading to the west coast. The new carrier is Federal auto transport SO I AM HOPING AND PRAYING CARS GETS HERE IN ONE PIECE SO NEVER USE GT MOTORSPORT OR A FREAKING BROKER TO TRANSPORT A CAR |

They have your baby, you are at their mercy. Previous post was correct that they will wait for a full trailer. I've shipped cars before and you have to grin and bear it.

Sounds like you're the new owner @ this time...
I'd play hardball & tell them that unless they can give you its current location & contact info of where/who it can be found with--that you'll consider it stolen @ this point & will contact the police. I bet that'll get things (and the car lol) moving. Good luck!
