New Guy Here
Hi all.
Just wanted to introduce myself. Picked up an awesome 2010 M3 two 2weeks ago. Other than the slightly harsh ride the car is simple amazing. I literally sit at my desk at work thinking all day about driving it once home. Hopefully, this feeling remains after the honeymoon period is long gone. My previous ride was a 2008 550i m sport. Great car, but lacked the engagement and excitement the M3 delivers. Oh man what a car! Short term mods: Tints Front lip Stock angel eyes replacement( recommendations welcomed) Maybe a drop but don't which spring is conducive for a decent drop(Not into the slam business), comfort and handling. Question, with tints I have been heavily debating if to go with 35% or 20%. My interior is black and my concern is 20% might be too dark , but then I don't want to go with 35% percent and regret how light the tint is. I have seen this happen already. Also, is ceramic or carbon tints really worth the cost? I have called two prominent tint guys in NYC " Lorenzo" and" Jack Tarvallas" and got quoted $350 and $400 for Suntek film without the windshield. Thanks in advance for your insight. |

Welcome and congrats.
Your Space Gray M3 looks fantastic. If you're going with SunTek tint, I recommend the CXP version. I've had it put on four cars to date and it's quality film. The M3 in "my garage" has CXP35 all side glass, CXP18 rear glass, but the interior is much lighter than your car's interior. OTOH, two of the other cars had the same 35-18 film and both have black interiors. Putting the 20% on the side is going to be very dark, but it's exactly what some like. EDIT: The price you've been quoted may be the norm in NYC, but it is more than double what it would run you here on the Gulf Coast.

Thanks for the welcome fellas. I hope to learn a few things here as well as provide some insight to my fellow M brethrens.
I have been a long fan of BMW with a passion for M cars, so I'm very grateful to be able to drive such a car at the age of 31. I know there is a lot younger guys with M's, but for me I thought this dream car would be deferred until I was older with typical saying of once the kids are out the house I can get my dream toy. |

Congrats and welcome to the M family.
Lux v3/4 for angel eye replacement tint, I use pinnacle F1 and it's been great for the past 2 years. I have 20% fronts (5% rears) with black interior and it's super dark. If I could do it over again, I would go 35%. Lip, check out Mode Carbon. Good luck.

Welcome! I also came from the E60 550i to the M3. What a difference right? Haha. I have 20% on my Space Grey and imo it's perfect.

Welcome to the ///M family. I bought mine one month ago. Was choosing btwn an E60 and E92 both ///M. Got the M3 and love it. I now have the hat and shoes. For me... I knew I wanted an ///M for sure after going to the Nurburgring in 2007, went there right after the "24hour race" for open an open track day. Did some laps in a Mercedes Benz E class. As a huge F1 fan, it made a real impact on me to see the museum there and the huge dedication to ///M cars. They have a wall with all the previous engines and at that time a Z3 ///M & E46 ///M3. As for age I feel you man, I'm 28 and lucky, in my opinion, to have this vehicle. Hope you enjoy the car and welcome to the family and ///Motorsport!!!!'

Congrats and welcome to the e90 NYC club! As to tint, it's personal taste but I went with 50% pinnacle F1. Note NYC legal limit is 70%.
Tom at the Art of Tint in Brooklyn did mine a few weeks ago and did a great job. The sedans are easier install than coupe because no rear window issues. PS- don't feel too bad waiting till end of day to drive your M! I'm in western Ireland for 8 days on beautiful winding coastal roads...in an automatic Nissan Micra

Thanks once again guys for the warm welcome.
Zorrro, your car looks really classy with that percentage. If you guys don't mind chiming in, what is a realistic price range I should expect to pay for a decent quality film? My knowledge of films is minimal. A buddy of mines said I was crazy for contemplating paying anything more than $170 for tints. Then again he does not own a M, or have knowledge of films either. Most M owners will tend to spend a little more on additions to their cars. |

A high quality tint job is around $300 where I am at (NoCal). I just used word-of-mouth recommendations and Yelp online reviews to pick a tint shop. |

So I got my tints done today. Film used was SunTek Carbon CXP 20% all around, no windshield. Looks light in direct sunlight, but as long as it does not catch the eyes of the law.

Thanks.
Thanks. I paid $200 plus tip. The price tend to skyrocket as you get into the more expensive films. |

Update: I have to take my car back to the tint shop. I just took it for a spin today and all the door panel seems to be rattling. The installer pop the portion of my panel to do the installation. Worried now if anything was broken in the process.
