I taught both my kids to drive stick. My son even "bought" my first BMW from me, an '88 528e with 5 speed MT. I drove the wheels off it, "sold" it to him and he put another 100k miles on it. He was the only one who had a manual transmission car at college.
Both my kids have told me they plan to teach their kids to drive stick. All they have to do is find a vehicle with a manual transmission. |

Porsche still offers a manual… . Or for something more reasonable, BMW will let you get the M2 in manual.

If I did go back, and M2 would be at the top of my list or possibly a used well-kept E46 or E90. Heck, I'd take my '88 528e in a heartbeat as weekend car. I can dream about a 911 but that's never going to happen. I like money too much. |

When you have a class reunion (for example, 20 year), calculate what class graduated that many years before you.
For example - 20 year reunion this year is 2005. In 2005, 20 years before you would be the class of 1985. In 2005 how ancient did you think the class of 1985 were, or how “way back”were events that happened in 1985? Well, in 2025 that’s how kids look at your generation. |

Warning: I'm on the reunion committee for my high school. My job has been to find "lost" classmates and nudge them into attending the next reunion. So, if you say you're not going, my instinct will be to try to talk you into it. My 60th comes up in 2 years. You must be an old guy! |

Then I bought my 1st BMW; an M235i with 8-speed automatic. Its quicker than the 6-speed manual version. Both of my cars are automatics and my damaged left knee is much happerier these days.

I can say that I was never even notified of any of my high school reunions, and do not have a social media profile so the alumni association will likely never find me to send an invitation unless they try real hard. (Maybe they sent the invitations to the possible serial killer on Farcebook who has the same name as me and that all of my own relatives are friends with?) Even then, I have zero, make that NEGATIVE interest in attending a reunion or seeing any of my high school classmates ever again.....

'scuse me grandpa...! My dad taught me when I was fourteen. I even "borrowed" a military police jeep that was left idling just to show my classmates that I could. The MPs were glad when I left the base to go to college.

So often that's the case. The classmate has not been contacted. I'm really good at finding people and it's unbelievably hard to find some people. My "nudging" turned a lot of classmates who didn't want to attend. They ended up coming and having a great time. In a few instances, it rekindled some relationships. It sounds like its a hard no for you. That's okay too. |

I will probably attend. But, my dear wife has dementia and is at the stage where she can’t be left alone, so I’ll have to find a sitter. From what I can see at FallenClassmates.com, about 1/3 of our class are deceased, and I imagine a few additional, unreported. So yes, I would like to attend.
